Basically, three types of clothing are needed for the baby namely, clothes to play in daytime, nightwear clothes and clothes to go out. It is not necessary to spend a lot for baby’s clothes and it does not make any sense, since babies outgrow clothing too quickly, especially in the early months.
The most important clothing is the sleepwear and more money can be spent on this type of clothes. It is imperative that the baby’s clothes are made of soft material which are comfortable to wear and remove. The baby clothes should be durable and long lasting.
Baby clothes that have elastic waistbands and trousers are better because they tend to be more comfortable for toddlers and can be adjusted easily. The baby clothes must be loose to the extent of giving plenty of room for the child to move his or her legs. Shapeless heel socks grow with the child and so they can be chosen instead of patterned socks lest the loose yarn catches the baby’s toes.
It is a known fact that babies grow very fast and so, it is sufficient to buy around four to six undershirts and three to eight night gowns. One or two sweaters are needed especially for winter season and a good stock of baby sweaters should always be kept in handy. Soft baby towels of one or two sets are necessary and so are a couple of pairs of baby socks. To protect the baby from cold, two to three blankets may be needed.
Baby clothes made of cotton are the best choice, obviously. It is absolutely necessary to take proper care of baby clothing and so, the baby clothes have to be washed in special detergents to alleviate the risk of skin diseases. Mild laundry soaps that are free from dyes and scents are preferred for this purpose. It is a good practice to wash new baby clothes before dressing since, though they look fresh and clean on the shop, there are chances that they have come in contact with dirt and bugs and the soft and tender baby’s skin may not be immune to such pests.
Some money can be saved on baby clothes by buying large sized clothes as tight fitting clothes may become unsuitable very fast. Baby clothes made of single piece would be easy to wear that can be opened from the front and have snap buttons or zippers. This would be very helpful not only for the baby but the mother too.
It is also a good forethought to keep seasonal conditions in mind while buying baby clothes. Baby clothes that can be easily altered is also a practical solution that would save time, effort and money. One piece out fits will be good especially for crawling babies. While buying baby clothes, the looks are not important and only the clothes that have been designed for ease of use and practicality should be purchased.
